Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a National Mission for Financial Inclusion that ensures access to financial services, including basic savings and deposit accounts, remittances, credit, insurance, and pensions, at an affordable cost. Initially targeting every household, the scheme now focuses on every unbanked adult. With the extension of the scheme beyond August 14, 2018, enhancements like an increased overdraft limit from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 and accidental insurance cover on RuPay cards from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakhs have been introduced.

Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant must be a citizen of India.
• Minors above ten years of age can open a PMJDY account with the assistance of their legal guardians.

How to Apply Offline Process

• Go to the PMJDY official website.
• Access and download the Account Opening Form from the “e-documents” section, available in both English and Hindi.

• Manually fill out the form with necessary bank and personal details, including Aadhaar number, profession, annual income, and Kisan Credit Card details.
• Visit the nearest bank branch and submit the filled form along with required documents and contact details (Mobile number or email ID).
